FLX Summer Internship Program

The FLX Summer Internship Program provides Hobart and William Smith Colleges students with funded, hands-on internship experiences across the Finger Lakes region. Operated by the Salisbury Center for Career, Professional and Experiential Education, the program is designed to support meaningful professional exploration while strengthening connections between HWS and local community partners.

Through the program, students engage in internships across a wide range of fields, including the arts, analytics, food justice, community engagement, data and research, and nonprofit and business sectors. Internships are hosted by regional organizations and on campus, allowing students to gain real-world experience while making an impact in the local community.

Participants receive a summer stipend and have the option to live on campus. Throughout the summer, students take part in weekly reflection and professional development sessions facilitated by the Salisbury Center staff. These sessions encourage students to connect their experiences to their academic interests, build career readiness skills, and clarify personal and professional goals.

The FLX Summer Internship Program is made possible through the support of community partners and donors, including Annual Fund contributions that help ensure access to experiential learning opportunities for students. By combining financial support, mentorship, and intentional reflection, the program empowers students to grow professionally, explore career pathways, and develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their future aspirations.
